CEPE / Transfer Credits

Transfer Credits

Transfer Credits is the process of receiving academic credit for courses taken at CEPE's so that it can typically be counted towards your degree or graduation requirements. Your academic advisor at your home institution will make the final determination of how many credits may transfer and how the credits will count towards your graduation, elective major/minor requirements. For this reason, we recommend that you begin the Transfer Credits process as soon as you decide to study abroad, by seeking pre-approval for your courses from your home institution. If you have any difficulty with the course approval process, contact CEPE staff, and we will be happy to contact your study abroad advisor at your home institution in order to facilitate the process, sending syllabus of CEPE programs etc.

How Do I Start the Transfer Credit Process

There are three important TIPS to successfully obtaining Transfer Credit through your home institution:

  • Obtain written pre-approval of the Spanish levels as well as Content courses and Supplementary courses offered at CEPE
  • Achieve good marks in your classes while studying at CEPE
  • Confirm with the Academic department at CEPE the mailing address of your home institution for your transcript to be sent.

Credits awarded by CEPE are valid in a considerable number of universities world wide. In order to receive credits, students should have completed high school or equivalent and need to hand in certified copies of transcripts on enrollment.

In each program, students' progress is assessed systematically by our teachers. Oral work, written work, homework, attendance, punctuality and participation in class all count towards the final grade, in addition to grades obtained on tests and final exams.

On completion of studies, CEPE will send students' home institution an official certificate of study that will include all the course students have taken, the grades obtained and hours put in. Additional copies of this certificate can be obtained on request for a small extra charge. Students taking private classes can earn one credit for every fifteen hours of study, if they are judged to be making suitable progress.
