NOTE: All the FAQs are only for CEPE Guadalajara
1.- Will my host family pick me up from the airport?
It is your responsibility to take a taxi from the airport to your host family's house. When you exit the airport there is a taxi cab stand where you can safely purchase a ticket for the taxi ride to your host family.
The official tariff ranges from 180 to 250 Mexican pesos 20 to 25 US Dollars) The taxi booth will accept dolars too, please be aware to have small denomiation bills
2.- Should I call my host family from the US before I arrive in Mexico?
It will be the best to call the Mexican family a couple of days before you arrive to let them know, what time you will be arriving at the house. If you need help with how to tell your Mexican family. Contact CEPE direct
3.- when will I have to be in Guadalajara?
You will have to arrive in Guadalajara the day before classes, (Sunday) it is best to take the first flight in the morning so you will be early in the afternoon.
4.- How will I get to school the first day?
Your assigned homestay will show you how to arrive to school the first day, some families live within walking distance to school and others will require taking a bus. You should arrive at CEPE by 8:30 am the very first day.
5.- Will there be an orientation?
CEPE provides an orientation the morning of the first day of each session. They will be able to answer all of your questions during this orientation. |

6.- Will I have internet access in Guadalajara ?
There is internet acces at CEPE for a small fee, and If you bring your laptop with WiFi options, CEPE offers wireless acces to internet free of charge.There are also a multitude of internet cafes located throughout Guadalajara that have inexpensive internet acces |

7.- Can I use my ATM card in Guadalajara/Mexico?
In fact, we recommend that you use your ATM card for the majority of your expenses during your stay in Guadalajara. |

8.- Can I use my credit card or traveler's checks to pay CEPE my fees?
CEPE will accept traveler's checks or visa/mastercard credit cards for payment. CEPE's cashier also offers. Money exchange services twice a week. We recommend that you take a combination or all aforementioned options in order to diversify your access to funds in different ways. |

9.- Do I need to obtain the visa before I arrive to Mexico?
Please consult with your nearest Mexican consulate . Regulations vary based on citizenship. Nonetheless, CEPE staff will be able to assist you upon arrival |

10.- Should I drink the tap water in Mexico ?
It is best to drink bottled or purified water and ice. All host families are required to provide you with bottle or purified drinking water. That is standard procedure for all Mexicans. |

11.- Which CEPE level of Spanish do I need to get in the placement test, the first day of classes, in order to be eligible to attend Content courses in Spanish like Mexican Culture, Mexican Literature, Mexican Cinema etc.?
You need to be placed into level 7 or higher in order to take content courses at CEPE. |

12.- When will I know which content courses are going to be offered during the session that I will be attending CEPE?
The Content courses will not be confirm until the first couple of days of your session. CEPE cannot offer a class for sure until they know they will have sufficient students to offer a class; however , they generally offer at least one culture related class ( Cultura Mexicana or Literatura Mexicana) as well as one business type class ( Negocios Internacionales or Mexico en el Comercio Internacional) during each session. |

13.- What Should I Pack?
CEPE recommends the following concerning packing, " Please Remember Rule #1 International Travelers: never take more than you can carry, all by yourself at one time. Try to limit your self to one suitcase and a carry-on. Don't forget to put your name, address and destination both inside and outside of all Luggage. Casual ( but modest) clothing that you would normally wear at school is appropriate for every day dress. |

15.- I have indicated that I do not require lodging for the time being. Can I arrange lodging through Student Services, CEPE upon my arrival?
Yes, you can request accommodation at a Mexican family or at CEPE B&B later on or at your arrival to Guadalajara. The Student Service Dept. can give you advise tips or recommendations for independent lodging.

16.- Can small appliances like hair dryer and laptops can function without adapters? I am from Canada.
Normally you don’t need an adapter to plug your electrical appliances, in some cases you need one of this (very simple and easy to find) |

17.- I will be bringing my own laptop. Is there any preference for usage - PC or Mac?

18.- Cell phones - can one rent a cell phone from the University for weekend use?
CEPE offers at an extra price the TOTAL CARE PROGRAM THAT INCLUDES:
- Personal tutoring for helping and advising you with any daily life matter
- Pick up service at the airport by a CEPE representative
- Drop-off service at the airport by a CEPE representative
- CELULAR PHONE DURING 5 WEEKS (You can have the phone number before you arrive, so you can be contacted by family or friends at any time as soon as you arrive to México).
